- This is a very unusual item. We are not able to find another one to verify that it is actually a hanging oil lamp, but that is what we have been told that it is. It appears to say Fones HDWE'Co Little Rock Ark. on it, but the HDWE is very hard to make out. If it is HDWE possibly that would be an abbreviation for hardware. We did find that there is a Fones House in Little Rock Arkansas and he was prominent local hardware dealer.
From what we have been told it was probably made to be mounted on a wall. It hung from the ring on the tank, so it was easy to take down and refill. A lantern case was attached to the wall which is missing.
The valves not longer turn, the tank is bent on the sides as pictured. It measures approximately 39" long from the tip of the tank to the knob on the valve by 13" deep by 12" wide. This item is being sold as is for decoration or for a collection only. A very neat piece of history. - Item ID:
